About the beach
The most complete urban beach in Paraty. Calm, shallow and warm sea with a wide strip of sand surrounded by preserved mangroves. Very good structure and easy access make it the most practical option in the city — without giving up its natural charm.
How to get there
On foot (~20 min from the historic center), by bicycle, car, taxi or boat taxi via Marina Farol de Paraty. Parking available nearby.

Calm, shallow and warm — ideal for children and relaxing baths. Presence of medicinal black mud formed by the adjacent mangrove forest.
Structure on site
Kiosks with seafood and drinks, kayak and stand-up paddle rentals, bathrooms. Good cell phone signal.

All year round. Avoid Carnival if you're looking for tranquility — Bloco da Lama fills the beach.

Safe sea. Bring extra clothes to try the mud bath. Repellent recommended due to its proximity to the mangrove forest.
Practical tips
Go up to Forte Defensor Perpétuo (18th century) just above the beach — the panoramic view of the bay is free and worth it. The black medicinal mud is a curious and free local attraction: remember to bring a change of clothes.
Curiosities
The Bloco da Lama, famous worldwide, leaves here every Carnival Saturday bringing together thousands of participants covered in black mud. The name "Jabaquara" comes from Tupi and means "hideout of fugitives".
