Trindade — Set of Beaches
Cepilho (surfing) → Meio (swimming pools) → Ranchos (restaurants) → Cachadaço (natural pool). Four beaches in one destination.
About the beach
Trindade is a complete destination in itself: four beaches with distinct personalities within a historic village resistant to real estate speculation. Cachadaço, with its crystal-clear natural pools within the Serra da Bocaina National Park, is the highlight of the complex.
How to get there
Car: BR-101 towards São Paulo, well-signposted exit for Trindade. Bus: regular line leaving from Paraty bus station. Asphalted road to the village. Car is at the entrance — the village does not allow circulation.
Features of the sea
Varied: Cepilho has strong waves (surfing); Meio and Ranchos have calm waters; Cachadaço has crystal clear natural pools protected by rocks, up to 1 m deep.
Structure on site
Village with inns, restaurants, bars and grocery stores. Kayak and SUP rental. Boats to Cachadaço leave from Meio and Ranchos beaches.
Best time
Week and low season to avoid overcrowding. Weekends and holidays are excessively busy.
Security and alerts
Cepilho Beach: strong waves — not suitable for non-surfers. Cachadaço: slippery rocks on the access trail. Praia do Meio and Ranchos are safe.
Practical tips
Visit Cachadaço early in the morning — on weekends the pools are full at noon. Access can be done on foot via the 10-minute trail from Meio, or by boat through the Ranchos. "Cepilho" owes its name to a tool used to build canoes.
Curiosities
Trindade was a hippie stronghold in the 1970s and resisted real estate speculation for decades. Cachadaço is located within the Serra da Bocaina National Park — its natural pools are protected by law. The village has been a community of artisanal fishermen for generations.
