About the trail

Short but extremely steep: 1.5 km of trail with a climb of 425 m in dense forest, with fixed ropes in the most vertical sections. At the top, one of the rarest views in Brazil: Saco do Mamanguá seen from above, revealing its 33 beaches, mangroves and the shape of a tropical fjord. A photo impossible to take from another point.

How to get to the starting point

Paraty-Mirim (~40 min drive from Paraty). From Paraty-Mirim, boat to Praia do Cruzeiro in Saco do Mamanguá (20–40 min). The trail starts near the Orlando restaurant. It can be hired via agencies in Paraty (transport + boat + guide included).

Structure on the route

No structure on the trail. Orlando's restaurant at the base. Local boatmen in Paraty-Mirim.

Best time

All year round. Avoid rainy days (slippery trail). Morning for light and temperature.

Security

Extreme slope in a few meters. Fixed ropes require arm strength. Not suitable for young children or those without basic physical fitness. Minimum 1.5L of water per person.

Agencies in Paraty offer the complete package (transport + boat + guide) from R$ 150/person. Very recommended for first visit. From the top: 360° view of Mamanguá. Do it in the morning to avoid heat.

Curiosities

Almost no one outside of Paraty knows that this viewpoint exists. The view from Mamanguá Sugarloaf Mountain is considered by local guides to be the most beautiful on the entire Costa Verde — even more impressive than Rio's Sugarloaf Mountain due to the element of surprise.
