Spread across 8 km of cove, most of which are only accessible by boat or kayak. Highlights include Praia do Cruzeiro (base of Pão de Açúcar) and the beaches of the caiçara communities, with fishing ranch infrastructure and simple meals.
KAYAKING IN THE MANGROVE
Exploring the mangrove forest by kayak is one of the most unique experiences in Mamanguá. Local agencies offer guided tours, including snorkeling in the most transparent areas within Saco.
SNORKELING AND DIVING
Calm and clear waters in most parts of Saco, especially on the more protected beaches in the interior of the cove.
CAIÇARA CULTURE
The 8 communities within Mamanguá maintain traditions of artisanal fishing, cooking and crafts. Community-based tourism is the main source of income — shopping and eating in communities is the best way to support this conservation.
