A small sheltered beach in Paraty Bay, with clear water, light sand and forest around the cove. It is usually visited by boat on bay itineraries.

How to get there

Access is by boat only. Schooners leave from Pontal and take about one hour; private speedboats usually make the trip in 20–30 minutes. Fares and stop times vary by operator.

Sea conditions

The water is generally calm, with a sandy bottom and good visibility. It is suitable for swimming, floating and snorkeling near the rocky edges.

On-site facilities

No structure. Natural shade from trees on the beachfront. Bring water, sunscreen and a snack. No cell phone signal.

Best time

All year round. Better conditions from April to October (less rain, calmer sea). Schooners stop here daily in season.

There is no emergency or medical support on the beach. Enter the water only when the sea is calm, watch for rocks, and confirm navigation conditions before departure.

Practical tips

Snorkeling is concentrated near the rocks at either end when conditions are calm. Bring your own food because there are no kiosks or restaurants, and confirm the stop time before boarding. Pack out all trash.

Curiosities

The cove is framed by rock formations and Atlantic Forest. The name Praia da Lula is preserved as the local toponym.
