A small island with clear water and short sandy beaches, reached from São Gonçalo by a boat crossing of about 10 minutes.

How to get there

By car, follow BR-101 toward Angra dos Reis for about 30 km to Praia de São Gonçalo. Local boats make the crossing in roughly 10 minutes; schedules and fares vary, so confirm on site. There is no direct bus route to São Gonçalo.

Sea conditions

Calm, ideal for swimming, snorkeling, SUP and kayaking. Three beaches with distinct characteristics: one more open, two protected by rocks.

On-site facilities

Kiosks and restaurants on the island serve fresh seafood. São Gonçalo Beach also has several kiosks near the departure point.

Best time

The drier months usually bring clearer water and more stable crossings. In summer, arrive early because São Gonçalo and the island can be busy.

Check sea conditions before the crossing. There is no medical care on the island, and any emergency requires a boat trip back to the mainland.

Practical tips

Arrive early and confirm which restaurants are open before settling in. Snorkel near the rocks only when the sea is calm. Pack out all trash, and do not remove shells, stones, plants, or animals.
