About the beach

Saco do Mamanguá is a tropical ria about 8 km long, enclosed by Atlantic Forest mountains that descend to the water. Its inner beaches generally have calm, warm, green water. The landscape is unlike anywhere else on the Costa Verde.

How to get there

Boats leave from Paraty-Mirim, where the crossing takes about 15 minutes, or from Pontal, where the trip may take up to two hours. You can drive to Paraty-Mirim and arrange a local boat, or book a tour in Paraty.

Sea conditions

The water is usually very calm with little wave action because the surrounding mountains reduce the wind. Conditions are well suited to kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, snorkeling, and sailing.

Caiçara communities along the inlet offer simple meals in some locations. Camping is available on certain inner beaches; confirm current options directly with local hosts.
