A historic caiçara village and the main departure point for Saco do Mamanguá.

- 18 km from the center
About the beach
A small coastal district with a calm beach, mangrove areas and important historical landmarks. It is also a departure point for Saco do Mamanguá, a large tropical ria on the Paraty coast.
How to get there
By car, follow BR-101 toward São Paulo to the Paraty-Mirim turnoff at km 154.5. The total distance from central Paraty is about 18 km, with a dirt-road section at the end. Municipal buses serve the area; confirm the current schedule before leaving.
Sea conditions
The bay is usually calm and shallow near the shore. Water clarity varies with tides and rain because of the mangrove and river influence.
On-site facilities
There are simple restaurants, parking areas and boat services. Facilities vary by day and season, so bring water and cash.
Best time
It can be visited year-round. Drier periods are better for combining the beach with trails and boat trips.
Safety and advisories
After heavy rain, the dirt road may deteriorate. Check INEA's latest water-quality bulletin and avoid swimming for 24 hours after heavy rain or near drainage channels and river mouths.
Practical tips
Arrive early and speak directly with local boat operators about the crossing to Mamanguá. Set aside a few minutes for the 1720 church. The community is small, so follow its pace and guidance, and pack out all trash.
Curiosities
The village has served as a stopping point for travelers descending the Serra do Mar since the 17th century. The Church of Nossa Senhora das Graças (1720) is one of the oldest in the region. “Mirim” comes from Tupi and means “small.”
